Oori and KIOKU perform in the Lewis Music Library
The Lewis Music Library hosted a concert of East Asian music by Oori and KIOKU on March 5, 2010. MIT student pungmul group Oori began the evening by performing traditional Korean music on a variety of percussion instruments, including the jang-goo, kwaeng-ga-ri, jing, and buk. The New York City-based ensemble KIOKU, with MIT Visiting Assistant Professor Christopher Ariza (live electronics), Wynn Yamami (taiko and percussion), and Ali Sakkal (saxophone) presented their mesh of traditional Asian music and collaborative improvisation.
