Joseph Jimenez of Novartis on "A Defining Moment: The Future of Manufacturing in the U.S."

Joseph Jiminez, CEO of Novartis

Keynote speaker at MIT LGO conference on "The Future of Manufacturing in the U.S." (May 9, 2012)

The future of manufacturing in the U.S. is at a critical juncture. American manufacturing declined more in the last decade than during the Great Depression of the 1930s, as more and more manufacturing jobs move to lower-cost countries such as China. However, some analysts predict the cost savings of manufacturing overseas are gradually diminishing, and that within the next five years there will only be a 10-15% difference when it comes to manufacturing in China vs. in the U.S.

This keynote addresses this critical moment in manufacturing in the U.S. As CEO of the global healthcare company Novartis, Jimenez explores the implications of these trends and discuss the innovations that will define the future of manufacturing and determine America's manufacturing competitiveness.
