Jason Chen '12 on the LGO Experience

Jason Chen, Leaders for Global Operations Class of 2012, describes how he built on his control systems background at the US Naval Academy and subsequent nuclear submarine officer experience as an MBA and Engineering Systems student in the LGO program.

Jason describes how LGO and Engineering Systems both provide the holistic ability to analyze complex problems and understand the different aspects of potential solutions. He also talks about one of his favorite MIT courses, Mechanical Assemblies, in which the class took apart a blender to understand how it was designed for manufacturing.

Jason's internship was at the Boeing 787 assembly plant in South Caroline and he describes how his Mechanical Assemblies instructor, Dan Whitney, visited him there and helped him see the Boeing facility using the tools for analysis from the class.
