Founded in 1861, MIT and its School of Engineering have a proud history of influencing the world through technological leadership and research innovation. The School of Engineering educates about 60 percent of MIT’s undergraduates and 45 percent of our graduate students. Just over a third of MIT’s faculty are in the school.
